Description

This is a fine hardcover copy with a very good dust jacket with a few scratches on the rear cover. Very light, even toning to front panel of dust jacket along spine edge. Completely clean. This book began as a collaboration between the Swiss artists and friends Alberto Giacometti and Herbert Matter. In the 1960's Matter first began to photograph Giacometti's sculptures in Paris. He continued doing this for years and both men looked forward to publication of this material. Matter continued working on it until his death in 1984. It finally happened a few years later, brought to fruition by Mercedes Matter. This book has a minimal text. It is mainly a record of Matter's photographs of Giacomettl's sculptures, which Giacometti himself said made him aware of qualities his sculptures possessed that he was unaware of. Illustrated throughout with Matter's photographs in black & white and some color: 225 illustrations, 45 plates in color. This book was also designed by Matter. 13" high X 10" wide, 224 pages. Large heavy book, foreign shipping will be extra. This book will be securely wrapped and packed in a sturdy box and shipped with tracking.
