Description

pp. 44 + 2 page map. Small 12mo. 165 mm. Original printed wraps. Yapp edges. Very good. Eneas Africanus is perhaps the most popular pro-slavery text in U.S. history. Written and published by Harry Stillwell Edwards (1855-1938) in 1919, this tract claimed astronomical sales. At least 45 editions were published between 1920-2007. The story is one of a faithful slave retainer who searches for his old master for years during Reconstruction in order to return a fine young horse to him, and a prized trophy. His trail covered 3350 miles, through seven states, and lasted eight years. BLKAM 1.
