Description
Rio de Janeiro, Museum Nacional, 1899. Large 4to (31.1 x 24.0 cm). Title page, xvi, 48, 49-189, 4 (index); eight lithographed plates with explanatory text leaves, a few text figures. Original printed wrappers. = Two semdom-seen papers by the American palaeontologist and malacologist John Mason Clarke (1857-1925). The faunas described consist mostly of bivalves, brachiopods, and gastropods. Many species are new. The paper is written in English and Portuguese, in parallel columns. Wrappers chipped at edges and front wrapper detached due to the poor paper quality. The text and plates are printed on much better paper, and apart from some light foxing, clean. Cancelled stamp on front wrapper, otherwise a very good copy.
