8vo., First Edition, with 21 plates on 16; cloth, gilt back, a very good, clean copy in the dustwrapper. Lambe (1900-1960) began his career as a midshipman in 1917 and rose to become Admiral of the Fleet and First Sea Lord. His WWII service included command of Dunedin, several staff appointments (lastly as Director of Planning) and finally a year is command of Illustrious, principally in the Pacific.
