The four books of the text are ìOf the mechanism of natureî; ìAttraction and gravity considered at largeî; ìOf a vacuum in the heavens, and between the parts of bodies: with an experimental enquiry into the physical causes of cohesion and repulsionî; and ìThe judgment of antiquity on the system of nature: together with the sentiments of some modern author of best reputeî. Jones and George Horne, later Bishop of Norwich, met while scholars at Oxford and became lifelong friends.
