Description
Oblong 8vo (postcard). 1 page. Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "'Erkenne dich selbst und gieb dich selbst' heißt das vornehmste Gesetz aller Kunst [.]". - An impressionist painter, Kayser-Eichberg specialized in landscape paintings inspired by the German plains and heathlands, frequently featuring peasants or cattle. He co-founded the "Märkischer Künstlerbund" in 1899 and was an active war painter during the First World War. - Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
