Description
Oblong 8vo (postcard). 1 page. Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau: "Ihrem Wunsche gemäß sende Ihnen die gewünschte Schrift und hoffe Ihnen damit zu genügen [.]". - Specialized in historical painting, Koch created several panoramas, his first one depicting the Temple of Zeus in Olympia for the 1886 Jubilee Exhibition of the Prussian Academy of Arts, and decorated public buildings including the Prussian House of Lords and Lübeck city hall with monumental historical scenes. - A few small ink spots and faint creases near right corners. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
