THE NATURE OF SLEEP
This volume discusses at length the modes of
action of neurones in the cortex and brain stem,
and the interrelation of their activities.
Electrophysiological and behavioural studies
of sleep and sleep deprivation in animals and
man receive notable reference. The nature of
dreaming and brain metabolism during sleep are
also discussed in some detail, and the whole
volume should serve to orientate the reader
with current research, on many aspects of this
interesting subject.
