Edizione originale, rarissima soprattutto nella legatura editoriale, di quest'opera molto datata. L'opera segue di 3 anni un altro importante lavoro geologico decisamente più comune: "KÜRSINGER, Ignaz von - SPITALER, Franz. Der Groß-Venediger in der norischen Central-Alpenkette, seine erste Ersteigung am 3. September 1841, und sein Gletscher in seiner gegenwärtigen und ehemaligen Ausdehnung. Mit einem Anhange: Die zweite Ersteigung am 6. September 1842. Innsbruck, Wagner, 1843." The name of Stotter is joint with the "Geognostiche Karte Tirols, aufgenommen und herausgegeben auf Kosten des geognost: montanist: Vereins von Tirol u. Vorarlberg. 1849 "Publisher: 1849 1849 [but 1852?]".This map was produced by the Geognostisch-Montanistischen Verein von Tirol und Vorarlberg (founded 1836) under the auspices of Michael Stotter, director of geology and mineralogy at the Landesmuseum Ferdinandeum. The survey of the region commenced in 1840 and continued until 1846. The map bears a printed date of 1849, the year the map was completed, though it would appear to have been published in 1852. The former date also coincides with the foundation of the Geological Survey of Austria.
