8vo., First Edition, with frontispiece, plates and illustrations in the text; handsomely bound in blue full calf, sides with double frame border in gilt, upper board with Priory seal blocked in gilt, gilt back, gilt top, marbled endpapers, uncut, fore-edge mildly spotted, backstrip moderately sunned else a near fine copy in presentation binding. With the presentation bookplate of Dover College signed by headmaster W S Lee mounted on front paste-down. Dover College was founded in (and still occupies) the grounds of the Benedictine Priory. LOOSELY INSERTED IS A COPY OF S.P. Punton-Smith: 'A Short History of the Buildings of the Priory of S. Mary and S. Martin (Newark), Dover' printed for private circulation in 1920 and scarce in its own right. A MOST ATTRACTIVE ASSOCIATION COPY. Bennett pp.121, 125 respectively.
