8vo., First Edition, with portrait frontispiece (original tissue guard present) and 5 plates; handsomely bound in brown half calf BY SOTHERAN, brown cloth boards, back with raised bands, second compartment with red leather label framed and lettered in gilt, all other compartments framed in gilt, gilt top, marbled endpapers, a fine copy. THE BINDING IS SIGNED ON FRONT FREE ENDPAPER RECTO. Splendid copy of the first editon of Strachey's famed retelling of the tempestuous love affair and its inevitable ending.
