Paris, Savy, 1891. 8vo (24.4 x 16.0 cm). xxviii, 185 pp.; 35 text engravings. Later quarter cloth over marbled boards. Spine with black label with gilt title. Original printed wrappers bound in. = Written by the French palaeontologist and malacologist Charles Philippe Ernest Munier Chalmas (1843-1903), and dealing with Jurassic to Miocene fascies of Vicenza, in northern Italy, with some notes on faunal elements including molluscs and crustaceans. A Notes sur les terrains tertiaires du Vicentin, preceding the main work, was co-authored by the French geologist and malacologist Edmond Hébert (1812-1890). Published as offprint from the Comptes Rendus des Séances de l'Académie des Sciences, volume 85 and titled Série stratigraphique - Vol. I. Stamp erased on front wrapper and title; a few annotations in light pencil; otherwise very good. Very uncommon.
