This rare book is a comprehensive history of Chile before its colonization in the 18th century by the Spanish conquistadors by an eminent Chilean historian, teacher, War of the Pacific veteran and a prominent scholar of the Mapuche people - Tomás Guevara Silva (1865-1935). This is one of the first historical studies of precolonial (pre-Hispanic) periods of Chile that incorporated into research evidences from the fields of archaeology and anthropology. Includes numerous photographs and illustrations. 255x175mm. 449+447 pages. Hardcover rebound with leather gilt ribbed spine. Spine edges and hinges slightly worn. Ex-libris sticker on front inner cover. Small stamp on front whitepage upper corner. Title-page edge of the 1st volume have small (1cm) tear and small pen marks near binding. Pages browning.
