Prior to that time he was a founding member of the Ilisiory Department ; it the Bosphorus University in Istanbul (1973-1980), and a Senior Research Associate al Harvard University's Donabarton Oaks Research Library & Collection in Washington. D.C. (1980-1983) Between 1983 and 1993 he established and directed the Institute Turkish Studies in Washington D.C Currently together vith his position at Princeton University, he serves as an Advisor to Enver Yücel, the Chairman of the Babçesehir University Board of Trustees. In January 2011 he joined the faculty of Bahçesehir University as a Distinguished Visiting Professor. Since 2005, Heath Lowry has traveled extensively in northern Greece. The preseni study is the oiitconie of those visits. Wherever fie has göne. he has been acconipanied by Evliya Çelebi and his Seyahatname. As a resiilt ol" those travels,he has piiblished several books and numerous articles, ali of vhich reflect the debt ie ovves the 171'1 century traveler. The present study is intended as to Evliya Çelebi and to the rapidly disappearing legacy in Northern Greece.
