Description

8vo (160 x 250 mm). 6 pp. Original wrapperless covers. Treaty between King Feisal and the United Kingdom, entered on 13 January 1926, extending the Mandate regime of the UK in Iraq for twenty-five years. The treaty was signed after the League of Nations recognized the Turkey-Iraq border, anticipating the Treaty of Ankara (signed on 5 June 1926) that settled the Mosul question. The League of Nations made their decision on the Iraq-Turkey border conditional on Iraq accepting the British mandate regime for another 25 years, though the agreement would be terminated if Iraq was admitted to the League of Nations before that period expired. This treaty ensured the extension for 25 years of the Anglo-Iraq treaty of 1922 and of the subsidiary agreements concluded in March 1924. With the admission of Iraq to the League of Nations in 1932, the treaty was terminated after only six years. - Two tiny tears in the spine, otherwise very clean. - Cmd. 2587. OCLC 13312989.
