Limited Edition of 1500 copies of which this is no 289. No marks or inscriptions. A very clean very tight copy with bright unmarked boards and no bumping to corners. Very clear gilt lettering and embossing to front and spine. Dust jacket not price clipped with a little rubbing, tear to upper front corner, and nicks, chipping and slight creasing to maiinly upper edge. Five plates including two large pull-out coloured paintings in excellent condition. 137pp. The personal narrative of a young Scottish officer who spent the years from 1811 to 1814 on garrison duties in Cape Town with the 93rd (Highland) Regiment of Foot and who later took part in the disastrous attempt by the British to capture New Orleans in Florida in 1815.
