It comprises three books, the first two are by Nicola, the last one, by Luigi, is devoted to the use of horses in battle and their display during celebrations. Nicola was Grand Duke Cosimo III's senior cavalryman. His son Luigi was appointed as first cavalryman of the Accademia Delia in Padua, for which he created horseback choreographies. He wrote this book, as stated in the preface, to render honor and justice to his father.
