This is a fine hardcover copy without dust jacket as issued, with no wear at all. SIGNED by the author architect, Andre Bruyere, in red crayon across two pages (frontispieces) images in black and white of eggs, and inscribed and dated to two friends in New York, in 1980. Otherwise completely clean. Text in English and French. Andre Bruyere (1912- 1998) was member of a well known French family of architects, engineers, intellectuals and writers on the political left in France. Andre and others in the family, participated in the Resistance to the German occupation during World War II. Andre Bruyere studied architecture with August Perret and contributed to the French International Exhibition of Arts and Techniques in Paris in 1937. From 1964 onwards Bruyere was working on the project of an egg shaped skyscraper, with architect Jean Prouve. It was first offered as an entry in the competition for the Centre Georges Pompidou in 1971. This book explains the project in detail. Illustrated throughout in black & white with photographs and drawings, elevations, details, etc. Scarce signed. 12" high X 8" wide, 88 pages. Large heavy book, foreign shipping will be extra.
