A LARGE-PAPER COPY of an important early play by Lavedan. vii, 220 pp + 9 heliogravures hors-texte. From a total large-paper issue of 50 numbered copies, this is ONE OF ONLY 10 COPIES ON FINE CHINESE PAPER WITH THE HELIOGRAVURE PLATES ON JAPANESE PAPER. The plates comprise a frontispiece portrait of the author and the eight principal actors in costume--extremely important, as few printed plays from this time include photographs of the characters (and thus of the actors who portrayed them.) The plates are each captioned with the names of both the character and the actor. 8vo. Attractively bound in quarter morocco and decorated boards. Original wraps and backstrip preserved. Top edge gilt, other edges uncut. A bit of wear to extremities of binding, internally clean.
