Description
An anonymously-published collection of droll and risque songs, anecdotes, poems, and skits, intended for the lowbrow, "popular" market. vi, [vii-xviii], 19-216 pp. plus a hand-colored frontispiece engraving of the singer Garat. Pp. [vii-xviii] comprise an almanac that runs from September of 1800 to September of 1801. Interestingly, dates are given both according to the familiar Gregorian calendar and according to the French revolutionary calendar. Printed on good laid paper. 12mo. Attractively bound in recent quarter morocco and cloth. For some unfathomable reason, this book is bound along with another book, "Vocabulario Artistico", a Spanish glossary of terms relating to art (Madrid, 1908). Fine condition throughout. Barbier II, 421d.
