Astruc (1864-1938), the son of the Grand Rabbi of Belgium, was a journalist, impressario, and playwright. He knew Eric Satie, Mata Hari, Arthur Rubinstein, Enrico Caruso, Richard Strauss, Toscanini and other stars of the Belle Epoque. Later on, he became close friends with Marcel Proust (1871-1922), who encouraged him to write this memoir. ONE OF ONLY 15 NUMBERED LARGE-PAPER COPIES PRINTED ON FINE ARCHES WOVE PAPER. 8vo.
