Small folio. 1 p. Payment order from the Comédie-Française ("Théâtre Français"), for Eugène Scribe's play "Adrienne Lecouvreur". Scribe was supposed to receive 5,000 francs from the treasurer of the theatre, according to a contract from 9 March 1849. The play had already premiered on 14 April 1849, a month prior to the payment. - Co-signed by the Sociétaires Jean-Baptiste Provost (1798-1865), Edmond Geffrey (1804-1895), and an unidentified signatory. - Traces of folds. With some foxing to the upper and lower margins and minor tears. Dust-stained.
