Dust jacket not price clipped or marked or creased with minor traces of storage, small tear to lower rear end paper and sunning to spine. Now protected in fully-removable transparent sleeve. 274pp. Originally published in 1860, this detailed account by the famous and controversial French architect Eugene Emmanuel Viollet-le-Duc describes the art of attack and defence and how it changed over the centuries from Roman times up to his day. It add to his account with 151 plans and drawings of the castles, fortifications and citadels which he describes.
