Description

This is a near fine hardcover copy with almost no wear. Completely clean inside and out. Text in ITALIAN. Fine monograph on Frederick Law Olmsted (1822- 1903) America's most successful landscape architect and his vision for incorporating the natural landscape into the urban fabric of the city. Gianni Pettena is one of the most influential architects/theorists of the 1960's in Italy, and associated with the movement Architettura Radicale. William Alex was the director of the Frederick Law Olmsted Association in America. This book was prepared to accompany the exhibition in Italy at the Uffizi in Florence from June 18 to August 31, 1996. Illustrated mostly in color, but also black & white reproductions of prints, engravings and photographs from the 19th century that help to show Olmsted's original ideas for not only New York's Central Park, but for all urban parks. Bibliography. 10" high X 12" wide, 217 pages. Large heavy book, foreign shipping will be extra. This book will be securely wrapped and packed in a sturdy box and shipped with tracking.
