Questa è una parte della nostra storia, una storia di periferia, la storia della gente di nessuno che si intreccia con la storia dei grandi eventi. È la storia di Vincenzo, partito giovanissimo per la guerra, nel 1943, e subito deportato in Germania; ma è anche la storia della sua famiglia, rimasta a sperare, fra il lavoro quotidiano e una vita semplice, scandita dai ritmi delle stagioni, il miracolo del suo ritorno. Le vicende si snodano su due scenari geograficamente e idealmente distanti tra loro: quello della guerra e della violenza - dove pure sono possibili amicizie e amori - e quello della Murgia assolata e pietrosa, dove, insieme alla fatica, al lavoro e agli stenti crescono gli affetti famigliari più autentici. L'8 settembre, Badoglio annuncia di aver chiesto e ottenuto l'armistizio dal generale Eisenhower, comandante in capo delle forze alleate. Questo evento viene vissuto in maniera diversa nel paese e al fronte, ma in ambedue i luoghi con lo stesso senso di confusione e stordimento.

This is part of our history, a story, the story of the people of none which is intertwined with the history of major events. It is the story of David, a young party for the war, in 1943, and immediately deported to Germany; but it is also the story of his family, was to hope, between the daily work and a simple life, punctuated by the rhythms of the seasons, the miracle of his return. The events unfold on two geographically distant and ideally scenarios: that of war and violence-where friendships and love affairs are possible-and that of the stony Murgia sunny, where, along with the effort, work and starvation grow authentic family affections. The 8 February, Badoglio announced that it has requested and obtained the Armistice by General Eisenhower, Supreme Commander of allied forces. This event is lived differently at home and at the front, but in both places with the same sense of confusion and dizziness.
