Description
8vo., Second Edition, with 6 full-page maps in the text; blue cloth, gilt back, a near fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper. Operation TOMBOLA was the last and most ambitious SAS action of WWII, when the author was dropped by parachute in the Northern Apennines to join forces with the local partisans. The enterprise was remarkably successful, culminating in the storming of a German corps headquarters, before Farran joined up with the advancing Americans. Farran's classic was first published in 1960 since when it has become very hard to find in good condition. This much-needed re-issue is published in A&A's Special Forces Library. Enser, p.410.
