Remnants of glue, paper slightly rubbed on verso, but not seriously. Gustave Courbet met Etienne Carjat in 1859 in Germany and the two men struck up a very strong friendship. “My dear Carjat, I care for you, as you as you know, you are my confidant in love, my biographer, you are my friend.” (Letter from Courbet, February 1863). We have been unable to find another copy of this photograph in public collections. * [FRENCH VERSION FOLLOWS] | Rare photographie originale sur papier albuminé, au format carte de visite, contrecollée sur carton. Résidus de colle et papier un peu frotté au dos, sans gravité. Gustave Courbet fait la connaissance d'Etienne Carjat en 1859 en Allemagne et les deux hommes lieront une amitié très forte.  Mon cher Carjat, je t'aime comme tu sais, tu es mon confident d'amour, tu es mon biographe, tu es mon ami (Lettre de Courbet, février 1863) Nous n'avons pu trouver aucun exemplaire de cette photographie dans les collection publiques.
