Printed wrapper to the second fascicule mounted on front board and altered in ink; several printed front wrappers bound in. = An important series written by the Swiss botanist Bénédict Pierre Georges Hochreutiner (1873-1959). Published in Candollea, Organe Conservatoire et du Jardin botanique de la Ville de Genève, but here as double-paginated offprints, partly published separately by the author. The author is also known for his Plantae bogorienses exsiccatae novae vel minus cognitae. The last issue contains the index des genres. Several wrappers signed by the author and a special typed index mounted in the front. Provenance: the nice pictorial bookplate of the Dutch botanist Cornelis Gijsbert Gerrit Jan "Kees" van Steenis (1901-1986) mounted on the front pastedown; dedications to van Steenis by the author on several wrappers. Perhaps van Steenis made the index. Several marginal, pencilled ticks, otherwise clean. A very good, unique item.
