Description
AN IMPORTANT TYPESCRIPT ABOUT THE JEWS AND ISRAEL, signed, corrected, and marked up by Claudel (and further marked up by those who published it in Le Figaro.) 3 pp., about 800 words. Claudel's opinions of the Jews ranged from stale French-Catholic anti-Semitism to pro-Israel admiration, and we find all of these shades in this crucial piece, published in Le Figaro (March 10, 1951) and in the Cahiers Paul Claudel (no. 7, "La Figure d'Israël", 1968, pp. 350-53.) Each sheet measures 27 x 21 cm. Very well preserved. Accompanying this letter is a fine copy of issue no. 7 of the Cahiers Paul Claudel, in which it is published.
