Description

SIGNED LIMITED EDITION, and one of the earliest works of the L.E.C., one of only 1500 hand-numbered copies SIGNED by typographer and printer Frederic W. Goudy. Illustrated with the fine 19th-century engravings of Felix Darley printed in umber, the book set in Kaatskill Type, which was designed and cut specifically for this edition by Frederic W. Goudy and hand-set by Bertha M. Goudy at the Village Press in Marlborough-On-Hudson. Small 4to, in the publisher's original full green mottled calf, the spine lettered in gilt. In the very scarce original glassine wrapper and the original marbled paper-covered slipcase with printed label on the back panel. 57, [1, 1] pp. An especially fine copy for such and early production of the club, the book is nearly as new, internally pristine and perfect, the binding very fine too with only the lightest of toning to the spine and a few rubs, the slipcase attractive and solid with only a touch of light wear, the rarely encountered glassine with some excusable chipping and wear.
