The author shows that in the Parts and Generation of Animals, the Motion of Animals, and in sections of the Parva Naturalia there are attempts to explain biological facts in which Aristotle�s philosophical principles are sometimes at variance with the data observed. Those explanations in which Aristotle either adapts his philosophical principles to fit the data observed or adapts the data to support his theory are examined in order to determine the character of Aristotle�s philosophy and of his science.
