8vo., First Edition thus, with coloured frontispiece and numerous plates in monochrome, light tape-marks on paste-downs; navy cloth, gilt back, red top, a very good, bright, clean copy in unclipped dustwrapper, the latter crudely reinforced at inner edges. With personal bookplate on front free endpaper and relevant cuttings on preliminary and half-title. Classic account of life in Tibet immediately prior to the Chinese invasion.
