2 vols., 8vo., First Edition, with decorative frontispieces, series and volume titles, 19 fine coloured plates (the majority depicting a variety of figures), 14 plates in monochrome, and 149 detailed figures and several decorations in the text; original series binding of decorative navy blue cloth, boards elaborately framed in blind enclosing the RS monogram in floral circlet all in gilt, gilt backs, gilt tops, yellow endpapers, medium-length split in upper joint of second volume (but binding wholly sound), a very good, bright, clean set. EDITION LIMITED TO 1025 COPIES OF EACH VOLUME. Ray Society vols. 113 and 121 respectively. The second volume contains the Society's illustrated obituary of Professor William Carmichael M'Intosh, President from 1913 to 1931. 'The is the only work published by the Society which contains ornamental figures (sea nymphs) and charming some of them are' (Curle, p.39). Complete sets are scarce, especially in this condition.
