No marks or inscriptions. No creasing to covers or to spine. A very clean very tight copy with bright unmarked boards, minor sunning and very minor marking to cream vellum spine, marbled end papers, dusty page edges and no bumping to corners. Clear gilt lettering on light brown label on spine. 315pp. Undated ca 1920s. Introduction on 38 pages. The medieval epic tale of Reynard the Fox, first printed by Caxton in the 15the century, here with a text modernised by William Swan Stallybrass and with an Introduction by William Rose. This is followed by the writings of Physiologus translated from the Latin by James Carlill. Lastly there is an extensive Glossary and Notes on Caxton's words and phrases.
