New and best edition of McCrackan's THE ITALIAN LAKES, and the first edition to be enlarged and with illustrations in colour added, and first edition with "The Spell of" added to the title, second impression. With 46 illustrations on plates, mostly being black and white photographs, also with three colour-tinted photographs and with three colour plates from paintings by B. McManus. 8vo, publisher's original dark green cloth, the upper cover with colour inlay design of a villa by a mountain lake in green, blue, gray, white, and red and with bold gilt lettering within a gilt ruled frame, the spine gilt lettered and architecturally decorated in gilt, green, and blue, map endpapers, t.e.g. viii, 362pp. A fine and handsome copy, beautifully preserved with only the most trivial of mellowing.
