Description
8vo., Second and Best Edition, with 208 plates on 128, several illustrations and head- and tail-pieces in the text, a full-page facsimile and a full-page map; cloth, gilt back, a near fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper. Cole's standard history was first published for the Festival of Britain celebrations in 1951. This edition continues the history through to 1980 (detailing the all-important governmental changes of the 70s) and adding a number of new plates. Scarce, especially in this condition.
