Description

First and only edition of this tribute to Vuillard, one of the great painter-printmakers of the Nabi (or "Revue Blanche") group. ILLUSTRATED WITH FIVE ORIGINAL ETCHINGS BY VUILLARD, four of which are printed full-page and hors-texte. Vuillard made only seven etchings, and of the five printed here, only one had (or has) ever been printed elsewhere. From a total edition 150 numbered copies, this is ONE OF ONLY 20 COPIES WITH AN EXTRA SET OF THE ETCHINGS, PRINTED WITHOUT THE TEXT. Beautifully printed on fine Marais wove paper (with the suite on Arches wove paper) by Jean-Gabriel Daragnès, one of the great printer-illustrators of the 20th century. Folio. Original wraps. Uncut, bright, and fine. The Artist & the Book 319; Roger-Marx 61, 62, 64, 65, and 66. An exceptional copy of a very rare book, with a total of ten original etchings by Vuillard.
