Descrizione

About the Book :-Torwal, where the Dardic tongue recorded in the stories dealt with by the author is spoken, comprises that alpine portion of the valley of the Swat River which extends from Kalam town to the large village of Churrai. It was visited by him as the first European in 1926. A descriptive account of the observation then made. Torwali is one of a number of languages generally grouped together under the name of ‘Kohistani’, as being spoken in the Panjkora, Swat, and Indus Kohistans lying to the north of the Peshwar and Hazara districts of British India. For convenience of reference, the writer has divided this work into four parts. Part I consists of Sir Aurel Stein’s note; Part II deals with the language; Part III consists of the Folktales and Typical Sentences; and Part IV of the Vocabulary and its connected indexes.
