Provenance: Holbrook Illustrated with a wood engraved frontispiece and 31 wood-engraved plates by Whymper et al. after Rahden Saleb et al., with tissue guards, 2 folding engraved maps by Edward Weller, letterpress tables in the text. Tall, thick 8vo (221 x 140mm), handsomely bound in contemporary three-quarter polished calf over marbled paper covered boards, the spine with raised bands gilt stopped, the compartments fully gilt decorated with panel decorations and central ornamental devices, green morocco lettering label gilt in one compartment, marbled end-leaves, all edges marbled. 553, [1 blank] pp. A fine copy, clean and tight and strong, the plates and text-block in excellent state, a beautifully preserved copy.
