This volume examines the fascinating and sophisticated Spanish heretical milieu by following the personal careers of eight individuals ? some better known than others ? who fell into the hands of the Inquisition. By examining inquisitorial texts and trial records, many of them hitherto unpublished, Pastore identifies affinities and common grounds within the eclectic and fractious community of Spanish heretics, which had originated among the ?conversos? of the 15th century and matured among the ?alumbrados? of the 1520s and 1530s, and whose ideas were spread throughout Europe by the writings and extraordinary activities of Juan de Vald?s and Michael Servetus. 652 gr. xviii-314 p.
