Regensburg, Zoologisch-mineralogische Verein in Regensburg, 1861. 8vo (19.5 x 11.8 cm). 56 pp. (numbered 39-94). Contemporary grained half calf over marbled boards. Spine with gilt lines and title. = An important contribution to the palaeontology of Bavaria in Germany, in particular because of the first, original descriptions of many new fossil (Mesozoic and older Tertiary) molluscs and echinoderms. This paper was meant as a prodrome to a geological description of the Bavarian Alps. The author, Carl Wilhelm Gümbel (1823-1898; after 1882 Ritter von Gümbel), indeed published this work, however, it took him until 1891 before the fourth and final part was published. Contained in the society's Korrespondez-Blatt, volume 15(4-6), wrongly numbered "14(4-6)", and for some reason bound with the 1857 11th volume. Both volumes contain several other mineralogial and zoological papers, chiefly dealing with the geology and natural hisory of Bavaria. Occasional very light spotting, otherwise a very good, clean copy.
