8vo., First Edition, with a fine portrait frontispiece in photogravure (original tissue guard present), title in red and black, and 2 facsimiles (one double-page; one full-page) on japon; original ribbed green cloth, upper board blocked with 'TH' medallion in gilt, gilt back, gilt top, a very good, bright, clean copy. Issued in matching format to that of Osgood McIlvaine's The Wessex Novels. The first substantial bibliography of Hardy's works, partially but by no means wholly superseded by Purdy.
