Description
Minor rubbing to top and bottom spine. Bookplate and previous owner's name on front endpaper. Pages a bit browned; Dark red boards with gilt lettering. Conway is a very famous mountaineer. He travelled widely in Europe, Egypt and the East; led an expedition in the Himalayas 1892; traversed the Alps 1894; explored in Spitsbergen, Bolivian Andes and Chile. He also wrote "The Alps", one of the most beautiful illustrated mountain books of its time, published in London by A & C Black (also available) ; B&W Photographs; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 252, 16 pages
