Illustrated by the author with a colour frontispiece, map, forest-decorated titlepage, three colourplates, forty-four black and white plates, and numerous pictorial headpieces and initials throughout. 8vo, publisher's original black cloth, the upper cover with a large colour pastedown reproducing the frontispiece and lettered in black, the spine lettered in gilt. xii, 286 pp. A very good copy, internally fine with just a few leaves opened roughly, the cover pastedown in very nice condition, the black cloth mellowed a bit at the spine and with the gilt lettering faded, minor wear at the tips and corners.

Edizione: a very attractive robin hood for young readers, "penned and pictured" by anglo-american author/artist louis rhead. this book is produced much in the style of a scribner's illustrated classic but has more illustrations, which include portraits of all the primary charactors. rhead illustrated numerous children's books, robin hood being one of his most sought-after. among others were the swiss family robinson, robinson crusoe, the deerslayer, treasure island, kidnapped and heidi.
