Description

Folio (274x198 mm). 28 pp. Collation: A6 B8. On the title page woodcut arms of the Cardinal legate of Bologna Girolamo Farnese (1599-1668), of Pope Alexander VII (1599-1667), and of the cities of Bologna and San Giovanni in Persiceto. Modern boards. Some light foxing, but a good copy.
Apparently unrecorded edition of the statutes of San Giovanni in Persiceto, a small town in the bishopric of Bologna. The new statutes were issued on 10 November 1659 as Girolamo Farnese was inaugurated as the new cardinal legate of Bologna. They are devided into 58 chapters regulating all political and administrative aspects of the local government.
The Italian Union Catalogue (IT\ICCU\UBOE\076047 and IT\ICCU\UBOE\026620) and L. Fontana (Bibliografia degli statuti dei Comuni dell'Italia superiore, Milan, 1907, III, p. 24) mentions only the 1677 and 1733 editions of the statutes.
