Description
Alger, Société d'Histoire naturelle de l'Afrique du Nord, 1926. 8vo (24.6 x 15.5 cm). 127 pp.; seven plates of which two in full colour. Original printed wrappers. = Important monograph on the ornithology of the Sahara. Well-illustrated. Henri Heim de Balsac (1899-1979) became a Council Member of the Société zoologique de France in 1938. In 1937 he was awarded the Prix Savigny de l'Académie des sciences and in 1938 he received the Prix Gadeau de Kerville de la Société Zoologique de France. The copy of the French ornithologist Georges Bouet (1869-1957), with his name in the top margin of the front wrapper. BnF gives 1886 as his year of birth. A very good copy. Ronsil, p. 217 [noting that the plates are dated 1925].
