Mercer and Catherine Bernard, Peter Selz, and Michel Fabre. Introduction by Kinshasa Holman Conwill Director of the Studio Museum. Contributions by Hale Woodruff, Langston Hughes, Alain Locke, Countee Cullen, Ollie Harrington, Anne Perlman, Margaret Walker, William Gardner Smith, Hazel Scott, and James Baldwin. Illustrated mostly in color, some black & white especially vintage photographs from the period. Covers the work of Lois Mailou Jones, Herbert Gentry, Harold Cousins, Ed Clark, Beauford Delaney, Larry Potter and Barbara Chase-Riboud. Bibliography. 11" high X 8" wide, 100 pages.
