Book plate of Robert Cormack to reverse of front emd paper, thus wrinkled. No other marks or inscriptions. No creasing to covers or to spine. Clean tight pages with unmarked boards, very slight wrinkling to front board and to upper rear edge, tanned slightly foxed page edges and with bumping to spine foot and corners. Clear gilt lettering and debossing to front and spine. Fold-out family ancestry chart at rear, not torn but 'over' folded. 757pp. A novel of the Herries family, between 1771 and 1822,and set partly in Revolutionary France and partly in England's Lake District.
