Dust jacket not price clipped or marked or torn with light creasing to lower edge. 570pp. The history of the poems of W H Auden and of the events that went into them from the time he moved to America in 1939 until his death in Austria in 1973. His poems are also effectively his autobiography as he once said that 'anything of importance that happens to one is immediately incorporated into a poem'.
