Dorothy Hartley takes time off from the history of culinary matters to concentrate upon the fast-vanishing arts and crafts of the countryside. Initially published just before the outbreak of WWII, this revised and enlarged version appeared a year later in time to boost wartime spirits. As with all her work this is a wide ranging, detailed and particularly well-illustrated account. SCARCE.
